Vori

Vori is 4 km. east of Tymbaki, set back from the road to Heraklion and could easily be missed. It’s main attraction is the Museum of Cretan Etnology, which exhibits how Cretans have lived for hundreds of years and also some events from the last world war. It is set in an old Cretan house and displays a collection of local crafts and obscurities. Items such as uses of local pottery designs, agricultural implements, basket work and bagpipes! It makes a refreshing change to the plethora of archaeology on offer in the locality. Vori also has a local olive oil factory and the oil is second to none.
